such a great classic scifi movie. it was so incredibly well done... i just recently read the story that the movie was based off of... very different... very very different... but still.. the movie was just perfect... great feeling of tension... and a great look at ourselves as a race/species...
the director was robert wise... editor of citizen kane, and director of the body snatcher (boris karloff), the sound of music, west side story, the haunting, and star trek the motion picture... amazing talent.. and it's easy to see why the movie turned out so amazingly well.

TRUE STORY: When my Mom was a young girl she stayed up late with one of her sisters to watch this. Right when they got to the part where the world's power is sapped, the entire power in her city goes out. She nearly had a heart attack.

well.... this sort of applies.... not really ... but kinda... i watched the recent remake of this recently... and, as i expected, it was fairly disappointing. not nearly up to the standards of the original.... i know remakes never are... and i didn't expect much... and it definitely didn't deliver much. the best part was that the 2nd disc in the case was the original... and a nice new print as well... so i watched the original right afterwards just to wash the taste of the new one out of my mouth lol
